Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Create a well in the dry mix and add lukewarm water and vanilla extract. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- On a floured surface, gently knead the dough for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the dough to half an inch thick and cut into squares or circles.
- Fry beignets until golden brown on each side (about 2 minutes). Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while warm.
