- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans and dust with cocoa powder.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients; stir gently until just mixed.
- Divide batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. A toothpick should come out clean when done.
- While cooling, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy.
- Once cakes are cool, layer them with cream cheese filling in between and on top.
