Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- Arrange the halved cherries in the bottom of the greased pan and sprinkle with sugar.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix applesauce, vanilla extract, and water until smooth. Gradually combine with dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Pour batter over the cherries evenly and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before flipping onto a serving plate.
